Joanne Barker has been qualified as a physio for 22 years and worked in the NHS and various private practices before establishing 1st 4 Physiotherapy Ltd in 2003,

She now treats clients with a wide range of musculoskeletal issues and specialises in treating complex back and neck problems, sports injuries, elderly rehab and chronic conditions whilst running the clinic working alongside the specialist physiotherapists in her team.

Joanne believes in a holistic approach to healthcare assessing client’s physical health and psychological health needs. She uses standard physiotherapy hands on techniques like massage and mobilisations, alongside education and exercise prescription to teach clients how to understand and recover from their conditions fully. 

From the many thousands of clients, she has treated over the years and constant training and continued professional development, she understands that a person’s presentation with a painful condition can be affected by many other aspects of their overall health and wellbeing and not just due to a mechanical injury. She believes in deeply understanding her clients to assess how all lifestyle factors including nutrition, sleep, relaxation, exercise and sense of purpose can affect their presentation with all manor of painful conditions and how to educate the client on how to move forward towards a happier, healthier and pain free life.
